Prospective Students

The Graduate Program in Economics at the Federal University of Uberlândia (PPGE-UFU)

  • Doctorate in Economics
  • MSc in Economics

For those interested in pursuing an MSc Degree in Economics at UFU they must have a bachelor’s or associate degree in any field of study. Brazilian prospective students, and international students living in Brazil, must take the ANPEC Exam. For those interested in pursuing a Doctoral (PhD) Program in Economics at UFU, they must have a bachelor’s or associate degree in any field of study. PPGE’s main area of study is Economic Development and prospective Doctoral students must choose between one of the two research areas: i) Applied Economics; ii) Public Policies and Economic Development.  Besides a written exam, Brazilian prospective students, and international students living in Brazil, are ranked according to their curriculum vitae and research projects.

PPGE’s admission process is annual for both Master’s and Doctoral programs. Prospective International Students (either Master’s or Doctoral) may contact the Graduate in Economics office (E-mail: ppge@ufu.br) for further information on the admission process.

Should an international student be approved in all stages of PPGE’s admission process, he/she must meet the following requirements for enrollment: i) present his/her undergraduate diploma (with a transcript) according to the University rules; ii) Prove his/her legal immigration status in Brazil; iii) Non-Portuguese speakers must get either his/her Portuguese Language Proficiency Certificate from PROFLIN – Portuguese Language from ILEEL-UFU (http://www.ileel.ufu.br/proflin), CELPE-BRAS Certificate (http://www.mec.gov.br/sesu/celp.shtm).
